I do mixed media paintings that are meant to reflect a memory through color, texture, and shape. I refer to my pieces as aesthetic abstractions. They are non-objective, but intently focused on surface and details form the world that have drawn our attention throughout our lives: brambles, forest, floor, old stone or concrete walls, weather walkways, decaying structures with only a hint of their original of themself left. There is such an abundance around us of rich color and texture and feeling to capture for an artist. That is what I do.
My paintings are intended to give one a thoughtful and gentle pause, a warm touchstone from our world, a confirmation of beauty in the vast array of experiences we move past in our lives. The intention is to inspire by elevation the simplest of things to our full view.
