About Me

As with all artists, I have been busy creating since I was able to hold a stick or a pencil. I get lost in the common but not often focused upon details in nature. I would be late for school because of a moss bed, acorn caps, and pussy willow catkins. An entire village was in the making before that haunting sense of responsibility set me on my way.

Designing spaces whether inside or outside is a drug for me. But the most daunting art form is the flat, blank canvas. It offers a journey with no map. Each of my works begins without a plan. It is a conversation between the canvas and me. The painting unfolds one right stroke countered by one wrong stroke. It takes time, thought, experimentation, discovery, failures, and successes before the magical moment when it says, “I am ready!”

I have a BA in Art from the University of California in Santa Barbara. I paused my painting to raise my three children. I became an AMI Montessori teacher. That is an art form, too. My children are now out in the world as remarkable, creative citizens, for which I am so proud.

Covid opened a door for me to become the hermit I really desire to be. I love nature, quiet thinking spaces, wood stoves, birdsongs, and sunshine. I must be engaged in making something deeply beautiful, meaningful, reflective. I paint for me. But, hopefully, my work will speak to you, touching your life in some way.
