My work reflects memories through color, texture, and shape. I make mixed-media paintings that are non-objective but intently focused on surfaces and details from the world that have drawn my attention throughout my life: brambles, the forest floor, old stone or concrete walls, weathered walkways, decaying structures with only a hint of their original form left. There is such an abundance around us of rich color and texture and feeling to capture for an artist. That is what I do.
My paintings are intended to give you a thoughtful and gentle pause, a warm touchstone from the world, a confirmation of beauty in the vast array of details we move past, often unobserved, in our lives. My intention is to inspire by elevating the simplest of things to our full view.
